Abstract
The authors have investigated the resistance of salmonellae of 30 strains, isolated in Chonnam area, to various drugs and the combined action of some drugs. The following results were obtained.
The range of minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) of many drugs was different according to the drug and bacterial strain. The wide ranged MIC was 0.8~6.3 p /xt,
Of the 30 strains, the percentage of bacteria resistant to ampicillin(AP), tetracycline(TC), chloramphenicol(CP), streptomycin(SM) and sulfadimethoxin (SU) was 40, 6.7, 16.7, 3.3 and 20%, respectively.
The bacteria showed various drug resistance patterns, 7 strains of single drug resistance, 4 strains of 2 drugs resistance, one strain of 3 drugs resistance and 2 strains of 4 drugs resistance. The single drug resistance was mostly AP resistance.
When two drugs, CP and AP, CP and trimethoprim-sulfamethoxazole(T-S) and AP and T-S, are simultaneously used, the synergism activity was different
